Arthur Jaffe, L.T.Clay Professor of Mathematics and Theoretical Science,Harvard University（哈佛大学）, DistinguishedVisiting Professor, Chinese Academy of Science , Academy of Mathematics and System Science, Beijing.
Arthur Jaffe's major scientific work has beenin the realm of understanding quantum theory and the mathematics that itinspires. Jaffe solved a fundamental question by showing the compatibility ofspecial relativity, quantum theory, and interactions. With J. Glimm heconstructed the first mathematically-complete and non-trivial examples ofrelativistic quantum field theories. Recently Jaffe's research has focused onthe relation between super-symmetry and a new mathematical subject --non-commutative geometry-- where one builds quantum space into the notion ofspace-time.
