Strongly Convex Functions, Moreau Envelopes and GenericNature of Convex Functions with Strong Minimizers

In this work,   using Moreau envelopes, we defi   ne a complete metric for the set of proper lower semicontinuous convex   functions. Under this metric, the convergence of each sequence of convex   functions is epi-convergence. We show that the set of strongly convex   functions is dense but it is only of the first category, and the set of   convex functions with strong minima is of the second category.    

主讲人介绍：

Xianfu   Wang，加拿大哥伦比亚大学（UBC   Okanagan）数学系终身教授, 博士生导师。1986年本科毕业于兰州大学并获学士学位，1999年研究生毕业于加拿大西蒙弗雷泽大学（Simon Fraser University）并获博士学位，曾先后在加拿大卡普顿大学（CapeBreton University）、奥提根大学（Okanagan University College）、哥伦比亚大学任助教、副教授、教授等职。主要从事变分分析、非光滑分析、凸分析与优化等研究，先后主持了加拿大国家研究项目等近20项，在《Mathematical Programming》、《SIAM Journal of Optimization》、 《SIAM Journal of Control and Optimization》、 《Transactions of The American Mathematical   Society》、《Proceeding   of the American Mathematical Society》、《Journal of   Functional Analysis》等重要国际学术期刊上发表论文80余篇，担任《Journal of   Convex Analysis》等期刊编委。
