讲座内容:

Type-I X-ray bursts are thermonuclear explosions occurring on the surface of accreting neutron stars. These events are powerful probes of the extreme environment in which they are produced. We studied the evolution of the pre-burst emission, the shape of the rising and decaying phases of the burst light curve and the spectral and timing properties during the burst in several systems. Our results indicate that all the above properties are related to the burst ignition site on the neutron-star surface. I will further discuss the effect of this finding on measurements of the neutron-star radius through X-ray bursts.
